Auditions for the 2023-2024 season will be held on September 7, 2023, 7pm to 9pm at First Congregational Church in downtown Muskegon, 1201 Jefferson Street. Auditions are being held for openings in all sections. Interested post high school singers are encouraged to audition.
The audition process is as follows (an accompanist is furnished): Please be prepared to sing a solo for us. This solo can range from a simple hymn to an aria. A candidate should sing a selection that shows his or her voice in its best light.
After you have sung your solo piece, we will ask you to sight-read. Because each concert is done with a minimum of rehearsals, we view sight-reading as a critical skill. The sight-reading will consist of you singing your part of a simple four-part hymn that you don’t know while the piano plays the other three parts. After we have chatted informally for a few minutes you’re all done. Absolutely painless….guaranteed.
